Throughout the 1990s, Lenny Carlson wrote 15 books of transcriptions of previously undocumented guitar solos, musical analysis, and historical notes for Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Warner Brothers. His subjects included such legendary musicians as Lonnie Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, John Jackson, and Neil Young. In 2006, Lenny contributed five entries to the Routledge Encyclopedia of the Blues.
